According to the latest report released by the World Resource Institute (WRI), Entire world is facing a severe water crisis. Drinking water is derived from rivers, reservoirs, and groundwater. All water contains natural contaminants, particularly inorganic contaminants that arise from the geological strata through which the water flows and, mostly anthropogenic pollution by both micro organisms and chemicals, which means groundwater, is less vulnerable to pollution than surface waters.

The main water pollutants include bacteria, viruses, parasites, fertilisers, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, nitrates, phosphates, plastics, faecal waste and even radioactive substances. These substances do not always change the colour of the water, meaning that they are often invisible pollutants.


Air pollution is becoming increasingly critical problems, particularly in densely populated cities. It impacts every aspect of our environment including both humans and animals alike. There are a number of health problems seen due to air and water pollution in urban areas.

Vehicle exhaust emission in transportation activities is one of air pollution causes. The increasing number of motor vehicles, lack of space availability on roads, and road side activities can cause congestion. One of the negative effects of traffic congestion is air pollution. Motorist vehicle exhaust emissions using fossil fuel oil are the main causes of air pollution.

Pollutants released by motorist vehicles include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the form of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), hydrocarbons (HC), sulphur oxides (SOX) in forms of sulphur dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide (SO3), and particulate matter (PM10).

Pollutants caused by emissions of these vehicles are harmful pollutants and can have a negative impact on human health if exposed continuously and in the long term. Unfortunately, there's now too much carbon in the air.

Burning of fossil fuels, deforestation for agriculture, and industrial activities has pushed up atmospheric CO2 concentrations from 280 parts per million (ppm) 200 years ago, to about 400 ppm today. That's an unprecedented rise, in both size and speed. Carbon overloading is only one form of air pollution caused by burning coal, oil, gas and wood.
